Water fast day 4
I had a little trouble sleeping last night, and it was tough to get out of bed this morning. However, once I got up and going, I felt ok. I think I actually felt more hungry today, and I considered breaking the fast, but I think I can hold out at least until tomorrow.

Water fast day 3
The third day of the water fast wasn't too bad. I had a couple of dreams last night in which I was eating, and in both of them my only thought was "damn, I messed up my fast". Overall, I didn't feel too hungry. I'm still having some dizziness when I get up quickly and my energy level is low, but I'm hoping to finally get to Ketosis and see if I feel better.

Water fast day 2
The second day of my water fast was easier in some ways and more difficult in other ways than the first day. I still had a headache when I woke up in the morning, but it gradually went away and was completely gone by noon. Today I had some feelings of fatigue and light headedness, but overall I don't feel too bad. I have to be careful not to get up too fast from lying down or I get dizzy. It also felt like there was a lump in my throat, but it went away after a little while. I was able to do my software development work for the most part except for needing a couple of breaks to lay down and rest. As far as hunger, I felt a little hungry at times during the day, probably mostly at dinner time. My shoulder at this point doesn't feel any different, but I'm hoping that as the fast goes on, the inflammation will gradually be reduced and it will start to feel better.

Starting a long term water fast
I've done a few 1 day (~36 hours) water fasts where I only drink water between going to bed, until morning the following day. These go fine for the most part, but I really wanted to try a longer fast since I've read from numerous sources that the process of Ketosis, when your body really starts to use stored fat, doesn't actually start until about 72 hours into a fast. I've also been having some shoulder pain for about the past 6 months which is probably either impingement or bursitis. I've read how fasting can reduce inflammation, so I decided to try a longer fast where I actually get to Ketosis this time.
The first day was similar to my previous experiences where I felt generally ok, but a little hungry for most of the day. At dinner was the hardest with my family enjoying BBQ that smelled really good. I also started to get a headache around dinner time, which has happened before on my 1 day fasts. Overall, the first day went pretty much as expected, so far so good.
